1 year Poker Bankroll/Journey update.

This mark a year of my poker journey. I decided since I will do a portfolio update, I will start a blog to keep track of my sessions and progress. (Mainly mistakes I made, to prevent myself making them as often in the future).

I started playing live poker last year with the budget of $3,000. The goal was to use poker as a tool to keep me busy during my off time. I set the initial goal of $10,000 to keep myself motivated to improve my game. I have separate bankroll/Life roll.

Portfolio goal achieved.

  • $10,000 11/22/2023
  • $25,000 2/3/2024
  • $50,000 Work in progress ($42,070)
  • $100,000 (Hope to achieve by the end of the year)

I use P&L as a score for the game of poker.

My overall BB tread. It has been consistent upward movement, however I been on a “downswing” more like breaking even the last two months. Average around 10BB/HR, was closer to 15BB at the peak.

My goal is to get back near the 15BB marks.

My P/L from 2023-2024

I ran hot in March 2024, things started to go south at the end of April, May was my first down month in a while and barely made it in the positive in Jun.

Magic Monday – Not so Sun run Sunday

This is my Hourly break down by the days of the week. I do well on Mondays, still trying to break the Sunday curse.

I don’t know if is mentally or not, but I feel like I run the worst on Sunday. I could remember few of my coolers happened on Sundays.

My Current Bankroll.

I primary play 5/5. Buy in max at $1,000. My stop loss is set at $1,800.

This is my results after playing live for a year. My very first session was 6/24/2023.

Played local tournament twice.

Best Session 4/19/2023 (+$5,740)

My leaks

Overall it has been a great run as a poker player, however there are still a lot of things I need to learn and improve on. Here are the general list of items that I believe are my leaks that if I fix can improve my P&L.

  • Being too attached to the hands. (Fold more often)
  • Playing out of positions.
  • Value bet at the wrong time.
  • Try to win every pot that I am involve in.
  • Bet sizing (sometimes I am still betting too small)
  • Being too loose playing at new locations

On top of my heads those are the leaks that I have. I will go into details in the future.

This is my first poker bankroll update, will do one at the end of the year or hit another huge milestone. Happy to answer any questions. Please leave any comments or feedback for the blog. New to WordPress also.
